   Woman shot boyfriend’s ex outside school, then fist-bumped him as   
   victim lay dying: prosecutors

   Prosecutors say a Des Plaines woman shot and killed her boyfriend’s ex   
   and then fist-bumped him as the victim lay dying in front of their   
   child’s South Loop school in September.   
      
   Those allegations emerged Thursday during a detention hearing for 31-   
   year-old Quadaja Johnson at the Leighton Criminal Courthouse. After   
   reviewing the case, Judge James Costello ordered Johnson detained   
   pending trial.   
      
   The shooting claimed the life of 31-year-old Romeca Meeks-Blackmon   
   shortly after 9 a.m. on September 8 in the first block of West Cermak   
   Road. Prosecutors said Meeks-Blackmon had just dropped off her 6-year-   
   old son at the school when Johnson arrived in a nearby vehicle with her   
   own 6-month-old child and her boyfriend, who is also the father of   
   Meeks-Blackmon’s son.   
      
   An argument between the women erupted within moments. The confrontation   
   escalated into a physical struggle, and the man tried to separate them,   
   prosecutors said. Johnson, who has a concealed carry license, allegedly   
   returned to her vehicle, grabbed a handgun, and fired multiple rounds   
   at Meeks-Blackmon.   
      
   As the wounded woman collapsed, Johnson allegedly turned to the   
   boyfriend and fist-bumped him. Prosecutors said Johnson previously   
   filed a no-contact order against Meeks-Blackmon, but the order was   
   never served.   
      
   Johnson is claiming self-defense.
