   One way you can tell is that anyone who cares probably knows   
   that any R after the first letter is usually replaced by an   
   'A' or 'Ah' sound. But not everyone picks up that things are   
   often reversed for an 'A'.   
      
        ...I don't know how old I was before I figured our that   
   "Idea" doesn't have an 'R'. One of the many tragic results   
   of spelling phonetically.   
      
   And you did notice that "Phonetically" isn't spelled   
   phonetically. Right?  What idiot thought of that?   
      
   But the quickest way to spot a local is to ask them to
