   December 29 is the feast day of Saint Thomas Becket.   
      
   He was the Archbishop of Canterbury in the 12th century   
   and was martyred in 1170 after a long conflict with   
   King Henry II over the rights and independence of the   
   Church. His murder inside Canterbury Cathedral shocked   
   Europe, and he was canonized just three years later.   
      
   He’s often remembered as a symbol of conscience, integrity,   
   and resistance to political pressure.
