   Try to keep alive!   
      
   Stock two weeks worth of emergency rations in your home.   
      
   Dehydrated baby carrots?   
      
   Canned goods works... assuming you have a working can opener.   
      
   Duct tape!  You can seal around doors and windows.   
      
   Water?  At least two cases of el cheapo "spring water."   
      
   Try to get more water though, for cooking and cleaning.   
      
   Medications?   
      
   And for God's sake, TRY to mix things up!  Don't get three   
   cases of baby peas and think you're all set. After three or   
   four days you're going to be sick of them...   
      
   Those packets of instant mashed potatoes?  Add two cups of   
   water & stir?   
      
   THOSE!   
      
   The water doesn't have to be hot, and it's a cheap, easy to   
   prepare emergency meal.   
      
   Don't count of frozen foods. What if there's no power?   
      
   A local store was selling a case of 12 MREs for $30 but I
