So maybe they'll       be able to pull a suspects DNA from the environment?              If they find the victim in a shallow grave, for instance, maybe       they could collect the soil with the outmost care, preserve it       and at some future point test it for DNA from the killer, whom       one would presume was present.              Supposedly they've even found DNA in rivers! Maybe they could       move downstream, if they had an idea of how far they needed to       go, collect water samples and at some future point look for       human DNA they might match to a suspect...              Yes. Environmental DNA. That might be a win.              Something else they should have done more than 20 years ago:              Decided that we "Bottom" 80 to 99% matter.              So the idea is that they pay everyone $1 thousand to donate       a DNA sample to a government data base. This will be used       for research, of course, but better still it will be used to       solve crimes!               ...so let's say that my brother kills someone and decides       that donating DNA would be a stupid thing to do. Still, he       has brothers, sons... a daughter... cousins...              If any of us take the cash, donate the sample then we're       going to come up as close to that killer. They could find my       brother indirectly!              And this could be retroactively applied.              In other words, a DNA sample is retrieved but there's no       matches. Then after the government decides we're humans and       could too, they check it against this MASSIVE database and       suddenly they can find the suspect!              The victim's hair, fibers & DNA: It had to be left SOMEWHERE.              Right?              A car, hotel... where ever they'd been before they were       murdered. AND THE KILLER'S AS WELL!              BACTERIA? Or any other chemical/biological matter on the       suspects clothes! Maybe the bacteria on people can be unique       enough to at least exclude a suspect...                                                        --       https://jtem.tumblr.com/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
