The 1935 Nuremberg Laws stripped Jews of citizenship
and civil rights, marking them as racially inferior.
During the war, additional orders allowed authorities
to deport Jews to ghettos and camps.

By 1941–42, the “Final Solution” coordinated systematic
deportations and killings through bureaucratic mandates.
These laws and orders created a legal framework that made
   imprisonment and deportation compulsory.

The Nazi system was highly coercive and brutal,
and disobedience by a few people would likely not have
spared many Jews. The deportations and killings were run
by a large bureaucracy, including police and military, so
one officer refusing orders would be replaced and the
system would continue. Those who resisted faced severe
punishment, often death. While some officials hid Jews or
delayed deportations, saving lives, the overall impact was
small compared to the millions murdered. Moral courage
helped a few, but the system was too vast for it to stop
   the Holocaust.
