|    Will this get the Steven upset with me?    |

From: jtem01@gmail.com              Will the Steven be mad at me? I mean, even more so than       my Alternatively Charming personality usually invokes?              WE GOT A FILM FROM IRAN!              Unpaid though. It's actually illegal for us to receive a       payment from Iran. Not that their currency is convertible,       with all the sanctions. But they are not allowed to pay       us. And me being me, I sort of screwed up.              See, I would never have given them a waiver code EXCEPT       that I believed (for whatever reason) that they were       submitting a screenplay.              Screenplays don't cost us money. They're a real pain in       the ass. It's hard to get judges to read them, they take       forever and it's genuinely difficult, most times to       distinguish a good screenplay from the bad.              Remember: A GOOD Director makes a good film. He gets a       good screenplay, assembles a good cast, a good crew and       he makes a good film. But, a GREAT Director makes a film       great! It's not WHAT he does, it's HOW he does it!              So give the same script to two different directors and,       yes, one can produce a masterpiece and the other can       produce crap. Same screenplay. Wildly different results.              So screenplays are a pain in the ass! No one wants to       judge them, if anyone thinks it's easy that probably means       you don't want them judging them, and they take up a lot       of time... reading a 100+ page screenplay...              But they don't cost us anything. We don't need to rent a       theater for screenplays. We, instead, invite the authors       to the screenings...              BUT IT WASN'T A SCREENPLAY!              Nope. I was thinking it was a screenplay so I never so       much as asked to look at it. I just gave them the waiver.              And it's a film.              And it's a 15 minute film!              If we put this in, we have to throw out 3 five minute       films to make the room! We have to throw out 5 three       minute or less films to make the room... for an unpaid       submission.              I hate that. I really do.              But we have a film from Iran.              I was thinking we could create & award it the "Steven       Douglas Alter Award for Outstanding Islamist Regime."                                                 --       https://jtem.tumblr.com/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
