From: jtem01@gmail.com              https://groups.google.com/g/alt.atheism/c/hFPRYSiYKek/m/w1dIrK7qZIEJ              Well. The 1% are parasitic, NOT scavengers but...              THAT was 2002, and the issue of destroying public education in       order to privatize it -- hand all the money to greedy       corporations owned/controlled by the rich -- was already an       very old idea. In fact, I had first been introduced to it in       a... documentary? News piece? "Report?"              Quite frankly it was so long ago I don't remember.              But they were talking about a defense contractor, and I remember       the image of a rocket or missile, laid horizontally, in front of       what I assumed was their headquarters. Anyway, their plan was       to.. to... you guessed it! TAKE OVER PUBLIC EDUCATION!              And they weren't shy about why: Chasing the infinite growth       fantasy! Corporations have to grow, according to this fantasy,       and if they can't sell enough death then they can at least make       a bunch of kids wish that they'd die...              The point is that it's always been a 100% drive for PROFITS.              Money. Cash.              Nowhere in the equation was there ever any "Improvement the level       of education."              So they had to ruin public education:              "Invent the disease so you can sell them the cure."              And it was alreayd NASA, where a huge chunk of the jobs are private       contractors. And even the military! Why pay some grunt the wages of       a grunt when you can shower some corrupt insider with a lucrative       contract at 2x or 10x the cost!              The single most obvious example is the postal service.              It was highly profitable. It was the single most efficient postal       service on the planet. So, they wrecked it! They saddled it with       debt, they closed locations, reduced service, raised prices...              NOBODY outside of an insane asylum could EVER consider privatizing       the USPS back then, so they had to roll up their sleeves and start       ruining it...              Gather them up, this evil 1%, glue "I |
