The EVs aren't emitting any pollutants in and of themselves.
However, the electricity doesn't just appear. Most people use
electricity from a coal burning plant. The increase in demand
increases the amount of coal burned.
If one used wind or solar, it's less. But the components used to
generate the electricity have a carbon foot print. And the blades of
wind generators cannot be recycled. So they just get buried when they
   need replaced.
Hydro power probably has the least impact as far as a carbon foot
print. But it does necessarily disrupt the natural flow of the river
   being damned.
There is no PERFECT solution. Maybe humans will find a means to
generate power with no impact. But it will be long after we're all
   gone.
