XPost: soc.culture.south-africa, za.misc       From: hayesstw@telkomsa.net              Dr Stefan Joubert of the Theology Faculty of Theology of the       University of Pretoria has recently done research into church       reactions to change and growth in the cities of Johannesburg and       Tshwane in South Africa's Gauteng province.              He will be speaking on his research and its implications for Christian       ministry at TGIF on Friday 4 October 2024.              When: Friday morning, 4 October 2024, 6:15am for 6:30am until 7:30am.              Where: Dialogue Community, Pretoria Rugby Club, 75 Totius Street,       Pretoria, Tshwane, South Africa.              Who: All welcome, no booking required, free entrance, free parking,       free coffee.              Online: If you cannot be there physically              Zoom ID 805-879-906, passcode tgif              These meetings are held early in the morning so people can come to       them on their way to work, and they close at 7:30 so people can get to       work afterwards. Those who don't need to go to work can hang around       and chat afterwards.              -------              I recently had the privilege of editing the book in which Dr Stefan de       Beer is publishing the results of his research. He visited numerous       churches throughout the megacities of Johannesburg and Tshwane to       discover how they are coping with the challenges of urban ministry in       environments varying from "lifestyle" estates to shanty towns.              I believe his findings will be of interest to anyone engaged in, or       concerned about Christian ministry in large cities anywhere, and not       just the two cities that he studied. So if you know anyone who might       be interested, please pass this on to them.                     --       Steve Hayes       http://www.khanya.org.za/stevesig.htm       http://khanya.wordpress.com              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
