A bee must judge where he finds the best pollen, and how to store that as
honey for the winter. Even a lowly cockroach seems to be able to judge
what it must eat to survive and to flee from someone who tries to kill it.
So there is definitely more sentience there, than perhaps we are ascribing
to it. Not really an expert on insect dharma, but that is beside the
point. I know what you were trying to say to Tang about seeing and not
judging being alpha and omega of buddhism. Perhaps I am nit picking, and
words will simply not be adequate to describe the concept of non judgement.
There are times when I simply can "be" in the moment and don't judge at all.
But those times are not permanent, and when stressful situations arise, I
have to catch myself before slipping back into weighing and judging and
boxing and caging, qualifying and quantifying....... all the stuff we do
that leads to discomfort. It does get easier to return to a peaceful
mental state as the years go on.

May we all have a sudden awakening.
