Yet another objection to the style of the Lotus Sutra. According to
Buddhism as I understand it from almost everything else I've read, heard
or practiced, the Dharma is not to be worshipped by any means, but is
meant to be understood and practiced. Yet another exercise in pomposity
to make one sick. Worshipping through a meaningless act of
self-immolation, as if one were a human fireworks being consumed for the
amusement and continued grandiosity of the Dharma Kings, is even more
   disgusting.

I'm not saying that the Lotus doesn't have the deep teaching that many
say it does - I'm still reading. But the feudal, medievalist,
triumphalist trappings and sociopathic pomposity of the sutra are really
   sick.
