        Case by case, always, not so?  In the case of the Apannaka   
   Sutta the Buddha provides a "safe bet" teaching and also   
   asserts "There is actually the next world."  In the case of the   
   Lotus Sutra the Buddha teaches to escape from life in this   
   world, which he compares with a burning house, and from rebirth   
   in the next one.
