   Hello,

Please excuse my intrusion into your *.judaism newsgroups.
Let me explain right up front that I am *not* here to prosyletize,
but simply to request knowledge about your Hebrew Scriptures
by those of you who are fluent in Hebrew.

   On alt.religion.mormon, a self-professed "elder", and "expert"
in Hebrew (or so he says, I don't believe him for a moment),
made the following claim, regarding 1 Sam. 15:29 :

   > If you could read Hebrew, you'd recognize the grammar
   > and syntax of is the same as in Numbers 23:19, which I've
   < already dealt with.

His original claim is as follows:

   >> God is *NOT*
   >> a "man" (Num. 23:19, 1 Sam. 15:29, Job 9:32, etc. etc.)
   >
   > These passages simply assert that God is not the type of man who lies,
   > or changes his mind.
   > //Numbers 23:19 God is not someone who lies, or a son of
   > Adam who repents.//
   > //Job 9:32 For he is not someone like me, that I might argue with him,
   > or take him to court.//
   >
   > Meanwhile, Scripture clearly does assert that God is a man of some kind.
   > //Exodus 15:3 Jehovah is a man of war: Jehovah is his name.// ASV

For those who are willing to address the Hebrew and evaluate the
claims made above, please accept my thanks in advance.

For others, please disregard this message and accept my apology
   for this intrusion.

   Shalom,
