   I am hard pressed to make any donation myself, particularly if I don't know   
   the people.   This is a lesson to be learned by all of us, i.e. not to live   
   for today with no savings or friends; not to depend on some government   
   program or the pity of strangers.  I ask what has prevented them from   
   building a circle of close friends and co-workers, and joining a church   
   where they would have a sense of community?  I have discovered, that is what   
   makes living possible when the chips are down.  People DO care, but you DO   
   have to spend years building caring relationships and community.  That's   
   life.  Forget government.  You sound whiney.  Government doesn't care. No   
   government does.  Governments just take taxes and pay them out to whatever   
   groups are needed for votes.  Stop whining and get down to the hard work of   
   building relationships and community.
