XPost: alt.music.marilyn-manson, alt.satanism, alt.antichristnet       XPost: alt.religion.christian.baptist       From: superstar@deadcelebrity.org              I just got back from the Marilyn Manson concert in Concord, California.       It was awesome, but I thought it ended way too soon. There were two       opening bands, some obscure band called Blood-Stained Pavement or       something and then the hardcore death metal band Slayer. That left       less time for Manson and then the show had to end to coincide with the       shuttle buses to the train station for the last train.              He started off with "If I was Your Vampire" and then "Disposable Teens"       and then a mix of new album stuff with classics like "mOBSCENE" and of       course "Antichrist Superstar" where he set a bible on fire. The new       stuff wasn't as familiar and maybe that's why I found it uninspiring,       and he didn't even perform my new favorite tune "You and Me and the       Devil Makes 3." The audience went wild during "The Dope Show" and the       screen displayed colorful pill animations. He concluded his performance       with "The Beautiful People," which I thought I remembered him declaring       that he would never perform in concert again. I waited for an encore,       rumor had it that he had planned to kill himself on stage, but he didn't.              As for Slayer, it was loud, very very very loud, even with earplugs. I       appreciate their Satanic imagery, though it seems a bit cliché, and I       honestly don't have the youthful energy to bang my head to it. Lots of       really cute young metalhead boys were dancing around in a big circle in       the mosh pit, a level of energy that seemed almost cultish in nature.       Then outside were the xian protesters with placards screaming Jebus and       damnation etc., and I shouted "We don't hate God, we just hate you!"              =====================================================================       "Drugs should be freely distributed. That way the people who want to       kill themselves will do it, leaving more room for the people who can       do the rest of the drugs."       -- Marilyn Manson       =====================================================================              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
