|    June 10th - St. Landericus (Landry) of P    |

From: richarra@gmail.com              June 10th - St. Landericus (Landry) of Paris B (AC)              During the reign of King Clovis II in the mid 600's, Landry, also known as       Landrich, was appointed bishop of Paris, to succeed Andebert. He has been       described as a deeply sincere and devout man who had great compassion and       love       for the poor. During the serious famine of 651, Landry sold his own       possessions       as well as some of the church's furniture and vessels to buy food for his       people.              Bishop Landry was overwhelmed by the lack of facilities for caring for the       sick       poor in Paris. At that time there were only a few hostels which undertook       this       work and they were completely dependent on alms. The bishop founded the       city's       first "real" hospital, which later became known as the famous Hôtel-Dieu de       Paris.              It was during Landry's episcopate that the Abbey of Saint-Denis-en-France       was       exempted from episcopal jurisdiction in 654. This is the only known document       from his episcopate. It has since been destroyed, but is mentioned in       documents       of King Clovis II.              The date of Landry's death is unknown, but it is believed to have occurred       no       sooner than 660. In that year a monk by the name of Marculf had dedicated a       collection of writings to Landry. The monk had undertaken these writings at       the       request of the bishop.              Today we celebrate the memory of a man of whom little is known, a man most       probably little known outside his own country. But a man whose deep love for       God       and his great love and compassion for God's people so impressed the people       of       his day, that he has been honored as a saint for many centuries.                     Saint Quote:       I would like the angels of Heaven to be among us. I would like an abundance       of       peace. I would like full vessels of charity. I would like rich treasures of       mercy. I would like cheerfulness to preside over all. I would like Jesus to       be       present. I would like the three Marys of illustrious renown to be with us. I       would like the friends of Heaven to be gathered around us from all parts. I       would like myself to be a rent payer to the Lord; that I should suffer       distress,       that he would bestow a good blessing upon me. I would like a great lake of       beer       for the King of Kings. I would like to be watching Heaven's family drinking       it       through all eternity.       --Saint Brigid of Ireland              Bible quote:       You are they who declare yourselves just in the sight of men, but God knows       your       heart. (Luke 16:15)                            <><><><>       The devotion to Jesus in His most Precious Blood was first popularized by       St. Gaspar del Bufalo (1786-1837, feast Dec. 28) who founded the Missioners       of the Most Precious Blood. A partial indulgence is granted to the faithful       who recite this litany.              Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.       Christ, have mercy. Christ, have mercy.       Lord, have mercy. Lord, have mercy.              Christ, hear us. Christ, hear us.       Christ, graciously hear us. Christ, graciously hear us.              God the Father of Heaven, have mercy on us.       God the Son, Redeemer of the world, have mercy on us.       God, the Holy Spirit, have mercy on us.       Holy Trinity, One God, have mercy on us.              Blood of Christ, only-begotten Son of the eternal Father, save us.       Blood of Christ, Incarnate Word or God, save us.       Blood of Christ, of the New and Eternal Testament, save us.              Blood of Christ, falling upon the earth in Agony, save us.       Blood of Christ, shed profusely in the Scourging, save us.       Blood of Christ, flowing forth in the Crowning with Thorns, save us.              Blood of Christ, poured out on the Cross, save us.       Blood of Christ, price of our salvation, save us.       Blood of Christ, without which there is no forgiveness, save us.              Blood of Christ, Eucharistic drink and refreshment of souls, save us.       Blood of Christ, stream of mercy, save us.       Blood of Christ, victor over demons, save us.              Blood of Christ, courage of Martyrs, save us.       Blood of Christ, strength of Confessors, save us.       Blood of Christ, bringing forth Virgins, save us.              Blood of Christ, help of those in peril, save us.       Blood of Christ, relief of the burdened, save us.       Blood of Christ, solace in sorrow, save us.              Blood of Christ, hope of the penitent, save us.       Blood of Christ, consolation of the dying, save us.       Blood of Christ, peace and tenderness of hearts, save us.              Blood of Christ, pledge of eternal life, save us.       Blood of Christ, freeing souls from purgatory save us.       Blood of Christ, most worthy of all glory and honor, save us.              Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, spare us, O Lord.       Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, graciously hear us, O       Lord.       Lamb of God, who taketh away the sins of the world, have mercy on us, O       Lord.              V. Thou hast redeemed us, O Lord, in Thy Blood.       R. And made us, for our God, a kingdom.              Let us pray;              Almighty and eternal God, Thou hast appointed Thine only-begotten Son the       Redeemer of the world and willed to be appeased by his blood. Grant, we beg       of Thee, that we may worthily adore this price of our salvation and through       its power be safeguarded from the evils of the present life so that we may       rejoice in its fruits forever in heaven. Through the same Christ our Lord.       Amen.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
