|    Abortion - The Double Deception    |
|    31 May 14 16:07:29    |
XPost: alt.atheism, alt.abortion       From: someone@somewhere.invalid              Now that "J" has fired up his drivel-spewing bot again, it occurs to me       that the religionists who object to abortion are the victims of deception       on two levels. Regardless of whatever rights you believe a fetus has, it       certainly does NOT have the right to invade a woman's body against her       will, and commandeer her organ systems for its own use. The fact that       the fetus needs the woman's body to survive is irrelevant. That's like       saying that a stranger on the street with kidney failure has a right to       use one of your kidneys against your will.              When you try to explain that painfully obvious fact to many religionists,       they shut off the rational part of their brain, and start repeating the       arguments coming from their church leaders. They talk about the fetus's       "right to life", and other such unevidenced assertions.              What is doubly ironic is that the Bible, in all of its thousands of       pages, never even condemns abortion to begin with! Make no mistake, the       Bible condemns a LOT of things: eating shellfish, wearing clothing made       of two different types of fabric, etc, etc. Most of which we ignore.       One thing it doesn't condemn is abortion, and religionists act like it's       written in capital letters on page one.              Go figure. It's just more evidence that religiosity is inversely related       to rationality.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
