(KATU) - A 65-year-old man remains in the Multnomah       County Jail after a weekend assault that sent another man to the       hospital.              According to court documents, Portland Police responded Saturday to 737       SW Salmon Street on reports that a person was hitting another person       over the head with a guitar.              When officers arrived, they found a man with a significant amount of       blood on his head and face, and a witness pointed out the suspect to the       police, who took him into custody.              The witness told police she heard shouting and then saw the man being       hit in the head with an acoustic guitar.              When she attempted to break up the fight, she says the suspect ripped       off his colostomy bag and threw it at her.              The alleged victim told police that he was sitting in his wheelchair at       the intersection of SW Park Avenue and SW Salmon Street when a stranger       approached him, asking for entry into a building.              When he refused, he says the suspect threw a "drunken punch" that grazed       his head and shoulder.              He says the suspect then swung his guitar at him three times. He was       able to dodge the first two attempts but was hit on the head the third       time.              According to court documents, the victim was taken to the hospital and       treated for a five-centimeter laceration across the top of his head.              The acoustic guitar used in the attack was later found at the scene,       according to police.              The suspect, later identified as Cedric Anthony Hampton, 65, was       arraigned Monday on charges of second-degree assault, unlawful use of a       weapon, and menacing.              Hampton is being held on $20,000 bail and is due back in court on Oct.       14.              Hampton has no prior convictions in Oregon, but has a 1989 drug offense       conviction in Missouri, according to court records.              https://katu.com/news/local/portland-police-man-hits-wheelchair-bound-man       -in-head-with-guitar-throws-colostomy-bag-salmon-street-park-multnomah-co       unty-cant-make-this-up-crime#              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
