   PICKENS COUNTY, Ala. (WBMA) — A Pickens County teacher was arrested on a   
   child pornography charge Tuesday morning.   
      
   According to county jail records, Lakethia Wilkins was booked February   
   17 on possession of child pornography and use of position for personal   
   gain.   
      
   Wilkins is listed as a fourth grade teacher at Aliceville Elementary   
   School.   
      
   Pickens County Schools Superintendent Shawn McDaniel said Wilkins was   
   placed on paid administrative leave.   
      
   The Pickens County School System released the following statement:   
      
   The Pickens County School District is aware of the recent arrests   
   involving employees in Aliceville.   
      
   These matters are part of active criminal investigations being handled   
   by the appropriate law enforcement agencies. The district is fully   
   cooperating with authorities. Because these investigations are ongoing,   
   we cannot comment on specific details at this time.   
      
   The safety, well-being, and education of our students remain our highest   
   priorities. When concerns arise, we act promptly and in accordance with   
   district policy and state law. Appropriate personnel actions have been   
   taken to ensure continued stability within our schools.   
      
   We understand that situations like this create concern within our   
   community. We are committed to transparency within the bounds of the law   
   and to maintaining the trust of our students, parents, and stakeholders.   
      
   The actions of a few individuals do not reflect the dedication,   
   professionalism, and integrity of the many outstanding employees who   
   serve our students every day.   
      
   No bond was listed for Wilkins.
