   I have family in Asheville.  Some homes got destroyed, others untouched.  But   
   all the amenities are cut off.  My 58yrs hometown of Whitestone NY got hit   
   pretty bad in September 2021.  Like a year's water in an hour. We had an inch   
   of water in the basement like that every ten years or so as far as I   
   remember. But the worst was 1975 and 2021 because of too rapid development.   
   In those days it was my little ass which closed the beaches and clogged the   
   drains, because our house was built after the World Fair. A lot of land was   
   cleared for World Fair parking and then got developed.  Mind you, they   
   finally just did a massive redrain of Whitestone which should last fifty   
   years. And the beaches which closed in my teens reopened in my thirties when   
   they build a super treatment plant. So if you want development, do it right,   
   do the infrastructure. Blaming outside forces is just an excuse for not doing   
   your job.
