   Sorry for your loss.  Every spring and summer in Boulder County I see   
   bees dying on the sidewalks due to people spraying insecticides on   
   flowering plants.  Why on earth would people spray plants with bee   
   killing insecticides when flowers are designed to attract pollinating   
   insects?   
      
   I've observed in the remotest areas of the Western U.S. the insect   
   populations are virtually non-existent.  My guess is that insecticides   
   blow eastward from the California Central Valley and the Imperial Valley   
   deep into Arizona, Nevada and Utah and kill anything that flies or   
   crawls.  It's a holocaust for the insect populations.
