    Mississippi has experienced a rise in violent crime, with a reported rate of   
   211 violent crimes per 100,000 people in 2024, which is lower than the   
   national average. Recent incidents, including mass shootings during   
   homecoming celebrations, highlight ongoing concerns about gun violence in the   
   state.   
      
   Violent crime in Alabama includes offenses such as murder, rape, robbery, and   
   aggravated assault. In 2024, Alabama reported a violent crime rate of 360   
   incidents per 100,000 people, which is higher than the national average.   
      
   In 2024, Florida reported 267 violent crimes per 100,000 people, which is   
   25.6% higher than the national average. The most common violent crime in the   
   state was aggravated assault, making up 73.8% of all violent offenses.   
      
   In Texas, the violent crime rate in 2024 was 389 offenses per 100,000 people,   
   which is 8.4% higher than the national average. The most common violent crime   
   was aggravated assault, making up 69.5% of all violent offenses in the state
