I wouldn't be at       all       surprised to learn Giles had lied to Buf so she wouldn't feel bad about       staking       her friends. This is the same guy who drugged her so she couldn't use       her abilities.              And later in the series everyone was lying to her to get what they       wanted. Namely       Spike gone because they didn't trust him. Recall her telling them that       she had heard       enough?
