   Joss Whedon To Build His Own Cinematic Universe After Finishing With Marvel?   
      
   When Joss Whedon first accepted the role of writer and director of The   
   Avengers back in 2010, no one could have known how big of a commitment it   
   would ultimately be. Yes, it would be difficult — that much was clear, for   
   The Avengers isn’t a concept that many could have pulled off. Following   
   Whedon’s success, he was brought on to shape Phase Two of Marvel’s   
   Cinematic   
   Universe. This was no short order, and Whedon ended up spending the next few   
   years shaping one of the most ambitious worlds in cinematic history. The   
   year is now 2015, and we are less than three months from the release of   
   Avengers: Age Of Ultron, a film that will likely put a cap on Whedon’s   
   involvement in Marvel’s world.

   In an interview with BuzzFeed, Whedon opens up on that very subject, as well   
   as what his plans may be following his prolonged Marvel gig.   
      
   “I would never rule anything out, because I like working here. By the same   
   token, the biggest thing for me is that I need to do something that I create   
   myself. It’s been way too long since I created a universe. The last thing I   
   did before The Avengers was [directing an episode of] Glee, and in between I   
   did Much Ado About Nothing. So I haven’t created my own universe for over   
   five years. That feels wrong. You know, my own universe might be a book of   
   haiku. I’m not necessarily saying I’ve got a grand scheme.”
