|    Joss & "Capt Marvel"?    |

From: daviderl31@yahoo.com              https://uk.yahoo.com/movies/could-joss-whedon-direct-captain-mar       el-109582826804.html              Could Joss Whedon Direct Captain Marvel?              Although ‘Captain Marvel’ is a long way off, it looks as though Joss Whedon       may be up for directing Marvel’s first female-led film.              After his recent comments about the lack of female superheroes, it looks as       though Joss Whedon may be interested in directing the upcoming ‘Captain       Marvel’. But would he be the right guy for the job? Or should Marvel follow       DC’s example and turn to a female director?              During an interview with Buzzfeed, the director who brought 'The Avengers'       to our screens revealed that directing ‘Captain Marvel’ is a possibility…              “I would never rule anything out,” he said. “Because I like working       here. By       the same token, the biggest thing for me is that I need to do something that       I create myself. It’s been way too long since I created a universe.”              Of course, Whedon is generally lauded for his portrayal of strong female       characters, including 'Buffy the Vampire Slayer' and Black Widow from 'the       Avengers.' And it looks as though he is interested in creating a strong       female hero in some form.              "I will say that when I was thinking about, ‘Well, if I wasn’t going to do       'Avengers 2,' what would I want to do?’ — of course the first thing I       thought of was turn-of-the-century female Batman. Not Batman actually… But,       you know, something cool.”              But what about Captain Marvel?              “Captain Marvel I don’t know as well [as other comic books],” he said.       “There have been a few [versions] of her. I have the first issue of Ms.       Marvel, back when she was that, and had the Farrah hair. My only issue with       her is that she always felt sort of on top. She was very driven. A winner. I       always like to dig into the soil of things to find my heroes, if I can.”              Obviously, that’s not to say he wouldn’t want to tackle her on the big       screen… and if he can find a way of digging into the issues surround Captain       Marvel, I’m sure Marvel Studios could convince him to stick around for the       project.              But the bigger question is – should they?              There’s been a lot of press recently when it comes to female superhero       movies… and the lack of female directors in the film business. Of course, DC       recently hired Michelle MacLaren to bring Wonder Woman to the big screen.       And from a short-list of several female directors, it seemed as though they       were trying to make a point.              But let’s not forget that Joss Whedon himself was working on a Wonder Woman       movie. So while there may be some pressure for Marvel to turn towards a       female director, it’s possible that Whedon could be the ideal candidate…       especially considering his history with the Marvel Cinematic Universe.              For now, we’ll have to wait and see. But with Whedon behind the project, I       get the feeling that ‘Captain Marvel’ could do rather well. Let’s just       hope       they get the right man or woman in the end.              ‘Captain Marvel’ heads to cinemas on 6 July 2018.              http://daviderl.com/ .       http://daviderl31.blogspot.com/              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
