Sarah Michelle-Gellar Dashes Any Hope for a ‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’
   Movie

There was talk a few years ago about doing another ‘Buffy the Vampire
   Slayer’
film with a new writer and director for the series, but fans nearly caused a
riot in uprising against the idea of a new film without Whedon — who was the
original creator — involved.“We have them all the time, they’re just not
televised,” Gellar told E! News about a potential Buffy reunion. “What I
think people don’t realize — Buffy was a failed movie. Buffy didn’t work
   as
a movie. It worked as a long arc television show where you could follow this
   journey.

Buffy star Sarah Michelle-Gellar recently stated that the first hurdle to
jump in a film adaptation of the popular TV series would be the fact that
the show was based on a movie that failed miserably at the box office.

‘Buffy the Vampire Slayer’ — starring Kristy Swanson as Buffy along with
‘Beverly Hills 90210′ star Luke Perry — opened in 1992 and brought home
   only
$16 million in theaters. The film was universally panned by critics and it
seemed the idea was all but dead until Whedon revived the premise with a TV
   series at the WB network.

“We spent all of our first year going ‘yes we’re based on a failed movie,
but we’re different’. So then it just seems kind of counterproductive to
then go back. It didn’t work the first time.”

The biggest reason Gellar thinks everyone should give up on the idea of a
Buffy movie comes down to the age of everyone involved in the series.

Gellar is 37 and will turn 38 in April while her main co-stars — Nicholas
   Brendon, 43, Alyson Hannigan, 40, and Anthony Stewart Head, 61 — aren’t
   getting any younger either.

“I joke that at this point I’d have to have a walker and my walker would be
how I would stake people. I think at this point I’m a little old,” Gellar
   said.

   Say it ain’t so, Buffy!

While the idea still seems to get fans into a feeding frenzy about a ‘Buffy
the Vampire Slayer’ movie actually being made, at this point it seems like a
forgone conclusion that it will probably never happen.

   Evil wins again.

{They could make a movie about Buffy, the Immortal and their
   Immortal Slayer daughter(s)}

{Just like the never ending clamor for a 'Xena' movie - never
   gonna happen!}
