   The Russo Brothers Will Direct Avengers: Infinity War; Not Joss Whedon   
      
   When Marvel contacted Joss Whedon to helm the first culmination of   
   superheroes with The Avengers in 2012, it was a pleasant surprise. The mind   
   behind Buffy the Vampire Slayer and Firefly had the creative know-how to   
   sculpt every Marvel feature until that point into something altogether new   
   and filled to the brim with action sequences. But new talent can never   
   ascend if they aren’t willing to pass the reins to the next great artist.   
   That’s what Whedon is planning with the next Avengers flick. And although   
   we’re   
   going to hate to see him depart, the move will free him up for that next   
   great idea which is guaranteed to please.   
      
   According to Badass Digest, the deal has closed for Joe and Anthony Russo,   
   the duo behind Captain America: Winter Soldier and its upcoming sequel Civil   
   War, to tackle the third Avengers movie.   
      
   This will signify the end to Whedon’s involvement in the Marvel universe.   
      
   Avengers: Infinity War Part I and Part II are set to be shot back-to-back in   
   2016 and 2017 with release dates set for May 2018 and May 2019.
