   Age of Ultron spoiler: Joss Whedon on the death you won't see coming.   
      
   OK, here goes. Avengers director Whedon – whose resume includes TV’s Buffy   
   the Vampire Slayer, Angel, Dollhouse, Firefly and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. –   
   is known as the guy who loves to kill his characters. And that trend   
   continues in Age of Ultron, as one of the costumed heroes bites the dust in   
   the film’s climactic battle.   
      
   We’ve never quite forgiven him for killing Tara or Penny or Fred or Buffy’s   
   mom or... nope, can’t even go there with Serenity’s leaf on the wind, Wash.   
   But Whedon says he murders for a purpose.   
      
   “I have that hilarious reputation, like ‘Oh, he likes to kill people!’   
   What   
   I like to do is make people matter. Everybody matters,” Whedon said. “A   
   really good way to remind people they matter is for them to lose someone   
   they love.”   
      
   In 'Age of Ultron'  Whedon does it again. You could argue that this death   
   doesn’t carry quite the same weight as some of his others, since we’re only   
   given a couple hours to get to know the character before he/she sacrifices   
   herself/himself to save a child.
