The gang is ganging up on Buffy. Anya questions why Buffy should be
   their leader --

ANYA --- And it's automatically you. (looks at Buffy) You really do
think you're better than we are.

       BUFFY --- No, I—

ANYA --- But we don't know. We don't know if you're actually better. I
mean, you came into the world with certain advantages, sure. I mean, that's
   the legacy.

       BUFFY --- I—

ANYA --- But you didn't earn it. You didn't work for it. You've never
had anybody come up to you and say you deserve these things more than anyone
else. They were just handed to you. So that doesn't make you better than us.
It makes you luckier than us.

Normally I always like Anya, my fave character, but this time
she is WAY out too far on the limb.

First of all, I believe Slayers are chosen where a Slayer is
needed (the one in the Boxer Rebellion that Spike killed) and Buffy was
perhaps the only Potential in the area.

And as far as Buffy being luckier than they are-- I can think of
nothing MORE unlucky than to be chosen to be a Slayer - constantly fighting
for your life; constantly lying to your parents and friends; and almost
assured of a early and violent death.
