   Alyson Hannigan reveals she almost 'blew' her Buffy the Vampire Slayer   
   audition with Sarah Michelle Gellar

   One of the roles Alyson Hannigan is best known for is Willow Rosenberg on   
   the iconic series Buffy the Vampire Slayer, but the actress revealed that   
   she almost blew her audition.   
      
   The 45 year old actress appeared on People Now, where she revealed she is a,   
   'terrible auditioned.   
      
   She added, 'I even messed up the Buffy audition,' before revealing how she   
   almost lost out on the Willow role   
      
      
   'I walked into a door and I forgot all my lines,' Hannigan began her   
   audition horror story.   
      
      
   'I had done the same scene over and over and over again,' she continued.   
   'And then finally, it was like my eighth audition and they did a chemistry   
   read with me, Sarah (Michelle Gellar) and Nick (Brendon).'   
      
   She added that during this audition, series creator Joss Whedon said, 'I   
   want new lines. I want to hear something new.'   
      
   Hannigan said that Whedon wrote a brand new scene just for this audition,   
   adding, 'it was all this computer - my character is very computer-savvy - so   
   it was all this computer jargon.'   
      
   She added that she had only gotten the scene, 'the day before, or the   
   morning of, and it didn't make any sense to me.'   
      
   'I was like uh, so I got to that part and the words just started swimming   
   and I don't think I was speaking English at some point,' she said.   
      
   'And then finally I was just like, I'm just gonna stop talking now,' she   
   added, before adding that Whedon had already made up his mind.   
      
   'Joss later said, "You couldn't say the words to save your life, but I knew   
   right then and there, because the chemistry was right there,' Hannigan   
   added.   
      
   She added that Gellar was looking at her like, 'Oh this poor girl,' adding   
   she remembered their faces were like, 'What did you just do?'   
      
   She was asked if she remembered the moment when she knew the role would work   
   out, and it happened after the first audition when her grandmother asked   
   when she would give up her 'childhood acting' dreams.   
      
   'She just totally clinched this, I'm gonna get this part,' Hannigan said.   
      
   Hannigan played Willow Rosenberg during all six seasons of Buffy the Vampire   
   Slayer, which ran from 1997 to 2003.
