I think the big problem is that its time has gone. Old TV shows are only
marketable as new movies in America as complete reimaginings that throw out
everything about the TV show and start almost from scratch - so the
Bewitched movie was actually about a real witch who gets a part in a
Hollywood remake of the Bewitched TV show. The Dukes of Hazzard movie had
none of the appeal of the TV show; too raucous and noisy: they even got the
soundtrack wrong and went for rock rather than country. The Starsky and
Hutch movie had only its 70s vibe (and score) to relate it to the show.
They remade the aged classic The Honeymooners - with an all black cast, and
it tanked quicker than a tank in a fishtank. None of these featured the
stars of the originals unless in brief in-joke cameo appearances.

In the UK we've a pitiful reputation for remaking TV sitcoms for the big
screen. Hammer churned out George And Mildred, three On The Buses movies
which ranged from terrible to even more terrible, Man About The House and
That's Your Funeral. We also got three Steptoe movies, two Alf Garnett
movies (the one I saw late last year was cripplingly, criminally poor), Are
You Being Served (even worse).... However, these were done at the time with
most if not all of the TV casts. They were also done on the cheap and
   basically weren't done well.
