If the Cat isn't vein,       I'm not sure what his purpose would be comedy-wise... that was what made       him funny. I don't think older actors would work... you'd have to know       what came before to understand and be amused by their character's       progression and a new audience wouldn't get it. In fact, I had always       assumed a Red Dwarf movie would have to sort of go into the origin story       for people who've never seen the show and, for me at least, having all       this happen to middle aged men wouldn't work. If one guy is still not       caring about where his life is leading and another is still enthusiastic       about the career he sees ahead of him (and has bothered to take and fail       the officers exam 500 times) it's just odd, not really funny.              I'm not completely opposed to new actors playing the roles but then it's       more for a new audience rather than long-time fans.              --       Starbugaboo              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
