   I've never understood one of Lister's lines from Legion:   
      
   "Two dozen eight-packs and a spare pair of sneakers in the ice-   
   box. Faultless! Not an inch wasted."   
      
   I can guess the "two dozen eight-packs", but what about keeping a pair   
   of shoes in the fridge?  Is this a British thing?   
      
   Not an inch wasted?  What is that supposed to mean?
