Indeed, given the way history played out and given how the system of fealty
and liege status actually worked, if one takes emotion out of the equation
(which i admit many find difficult on national identity issues) one could
make reasonable case for suggesting that, with the accession of the Stuart
dynasty, England became part of Scotland. Retaining the capital as London
doesnt really discount this interpretation either, afterall Cnut remained
king of Denmark and England was considered to be part of the Danish kingdom
during his reign (as the few extant contemporary accounts make clear)
despite choosing to relocate his seat of government to London. London was
simply one of the best placed sites for a military capital in western
   Europe.
