I enjoyed it (little britain) on first viewing, gave it up by the third
episode, with all due respect I hardly think retelling exactly the same 10 -
12 gags every single episode can, in any space time continuum, be considered
'clever comedy' even less so when they are working in the british television
industry, an industry that gave us 'Allo 'Allo, Yes Minister, It aint half
hot mum, Steptoe and son (if one counts being copied as success, this show
could be considered the singtle most successful sit-com in history, every
western nation produced a show inspired by it), On the buses, Mind your
language etc... (gonna stop the examples here, a) im sure i've made my point
and b) if I were to list them all (note I havent even touched on the work of
Atkinson, Idle, Cleese, Laurie, Fry, Barker or Corbett above) the full list
would make this one of the longest non political posts in the history of
usenet, I even had to cut the list of high brow comedy capable top shelf
comediennes short because britain has produced literally hundreds of them in
the last 50 years alone. If one extends that to radio comedy and includes
people of the ilk of Menard, Ross, Skakild etc... the list probalbly reaches
in the 1000's of names, and I still havent touched on the female comediennes
Old blighty has given to the world, Dawn French for eg, may well be the best
female TV comedienne of the current crop world wide and in Vicar of Dibley
she proved conclusively that, while blatant humor is her stock in trade,.
she is perfectly capable of delivering both subtle and intellectual humor,
to very high standards, when the situation calls for it

Im sorry if i upset any brits with that comment but frankly compared to what
british comedy writers have proved themselves capable of Little Britain is a
product written by hacks, and rather pathetic ones at that. If it wasn't for
the fact the fat guy is a disturbingly convincing drag queen i doubt it
would get any laughs at all.

   Cheers
