   I'm not sure what it's intended to convey, but what it seems to convey   
   is that the people who run the channel are morons. They think that by   
   giving the channel a new name, they can redefine what Sci-fi is and   
   bring in "non-geeky" viewers.   
      
   Thing is, they didn't change their programming at all to go with the new   
   name. So, if people weren't interested in schlocky low budget giant   
   snake movies before, I'm not sure why they think changing the spelling   
   of Sci-fi to Syfy will make them interested now.
