   "The Land of Opportunity" has become "The Land of Welfare Subscribers."  Since   
   most families cannot afford college, the new norm for employment in this   
   country is fast becoming minimum wage service jobs.  As such, single-income,   
   and many times even    
   double-income families, cannot escape living near or even below the poverty   
   line.  The whole scenario paints a sorry picture for America, while the   
   discrepancy between the very wealthy and the very poor continues to expand.
