   I watched the first one. It wasn't great, but it also wasn't as flat-out   
   awful as I expected from its reputation. The new take on Lister could   
   have worked, maybe. He was different from the original, but an American   
   imitating a scouse bloke would never have worked.   
      
   The original Red Dwarf was popular internationally but had trouble   
   catching on in the USA, IIRC. Maybe that should have told them   
   something.
