8b05d6ba       From: mxg77@po.cwru.edu       Copy: mxg77@cwru.edu              I liked this. A little bit of mystery (which the show can do well), an       offbeat premise with focus on a secondary character... a few moments       of Lisa acting like a kid... it was certainly not a shock, then, to       see Matt Selman EPing (as pretty much every time). The question of how       truly the guys are friends is interesting, to be sure. I do have to       point out that they're not just drinking buddies (like the barflies -       see the end of Duffless [9F14] for example) but, to Carl anyway, Lenny       would be a long-term pal and workmate, and Homer would be at least a       workmate (depending on when you decide they met), and they have had       adventures in the past (Half Decent Proposal [DABF04] comes to mind       with places almost swapped). Still, the whole story is not so black-       and-white, so I can work with that.                            Previous episode stuff       8F17: Lottery fever (they do have a knack for getting screwed out of       winning!)       1F22: The Simpsons want a pool                     Meta       RABF14 is the license plate on the Icelandic rental car (see also       RABF17, which aired right after this)                     The binomial distribution       Doesn't sit well with me. That looks like a normal distribution, which       can look like what we saw, but binomial wouldn't be demonstrated by       the plinko-type method we saw, while normal would.              "Act 4"       That has to win the prize for shortest act (at 32 seconds). At least,       it did until later tonight. I noticed as the plot resolved during act       3 and the timer ticked later and later that act 4 would be very short,       and indeed it was more like a short credits bit many other shows do.       Considering what happened with RABF17, I wonder if this is the start       of a new format. I certainly wouldn't mind a return to the 3-act       structure after almost 5 years.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
