   "Karmann Ghia", or maybe it was only a name close to that, is gay.  In Mel   
   Brooks "The Producers" (the actual original film) he appears as the   
   director's assistant (or maybe more).   
      
   The two main characters go to see director Roger de Bris (who has quite a   
   swish to him, and at one point is wearing a dress) and his assistant,   
   Carmen Ghia, answers the door, he too swishing.  I think the two are a   
   pair, but it's never completely spelled out.
