From: mxg77@po.cwru.edu              Pretty enjoyable installment of the oft-used Hollywood story. I was pretty       amused by the various pokes/slams, though many seem like they'll be pretty       dated soon (as will the cameos). Oh well. The change-of-heart resolution was       fun, but would have been a        better end on its own than seeing Homer change his own mind.              DYN:       ...Marge adjusts her bust as the family prepares to go to the movies?       ...the backyard cinemagoers applaud when the movie ends? (This is becoming an       annoying trend.)       ...Marge's hair makes a loud squeak when it hits the door frame near the       middle?       ...the Rogen laugh to end the episode was not over the Gracie logo, a more       appropriate spot?              Previous episode stuff       DABF05: some of Homer's problems at the movies reminiscent of this episode       FABF10: Cosmic Wars (then parodying one of the Star Wars prequels) returns for       the upcoming Episode VII       LABF13, NABF10: Seth Rogen and Paul Rudd have previously guest-starred (as       not-themselves) (Judd Apatow had no Simpsons connection but did write and       produce on The Critic, for what it's worth)       DABF03: Erin Brockovich references/joke              Meta       "JOKE?" as the church marquee (meh)       Homer won't have to sit through another annoying commercial, right before the       first commercial break.              For what it's worth: Clouds-only opening, Matt Selman EP, and executive       producers *before* the final break and short coda/credits.              And Don: the dumb football game was over well before 8, but the        ootball-talkin guys kept on going, so in the East, the episode began at 8:07       (shifting, of course, the whole 2-hour block).                     REPEAT NOTES from the last few weeks              RABF01 (To Cur with Love) airing #4 from 12/22 matched the first and third,       still including the "upcoming" fiscal cliff segment.              I didn't notice this at first, but it seems like the couch gag in SABF01       (White Christmas Blues) has another not-an-apostrophe (see my notes on       RABF16), so it says ‘TWAS the couch gag before Christmas. It seems to be the       same on the 12/22 repeat.              The second airing of RABF18 (Four Regrettings and a Funeral) on 12/29 I was       not able to watch or record, but I heard secondhand that it       -retained the Mrs. K blackboard tribute       -dropped the Marcia Wallace dedication before the credits       -ran a Chip Davis montage over the credits, instead of the standard credits of       the premiere.       Is that in fact correct? I sure hope that runs again, but I continue my       annoyance that we'll probably never see any of these dedications again. (The       adding of material like this is not something we see too much in repeats,       especially for episodes whose        premieres were not shortened to wedge something else in.)                     Finally       I'll be among those missing your Upcoming Episodes posts, Don, if only for the       last-minute updates and pithy remarks. You'll still be maintaining the air       dates list on snpp^Wsimpsonsarchive, right?              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
