From: mxg77@po.cwru.edu              It took long enough and it's finally here (and with a prestigious       writing/directing group, too). Pretty decent, pun not intended, but so unlike       most of the show it's hard to compare with what we've seen before.       Interesting, with not a bad resolution,        some nice moments, and a fair amount of chuckles. If I knew ST:TOS better I       bet I'd enjoy the end credits even more, but they were cute. I'm just not sure       even after seeing it WHY it took so long to air; does anyone know?              DYN:       ...Kang's voice sounds a little different from usual?       ...Nancy Cartwright does a rare girl voice on the zoo customer mom, though       (despite precedent) the Rigellian version of Lisa is not voiced by Yeardley       Smith?       ...Kang (near the end of act 3) seems to say Rigel with a hard G?              Previous episode stuff       1F13: the famous potato chip waltz is recreated...       2F18: ...and the way Bart snatches the chips from Homer is very much like the       scene with the puppies       1F17: Lisa has trouble playing with a ball provided by a superior mind              Meta       Various things, including "this isn't halloween!", "The Simpsons" title-logo       font on the zoo exhibit, "why you little...", and the attention drawn to the       fact that as the memory fades it will seem as if none of this ever happened.       Also considering Akira was first voiced by George Takei, it's kind of a       casting gag to have him as fencing Sulu in the credits.                     Long gap       The bigger point is the question of why this episode aired so late (a year to       a year and a half late), but if anyone wants to read my ramblings about other       long delays, look at my notes on RABF21 (Brick like Me). That's all for now.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
