From: mxg77@po.cwru.edu              After accepting the premise of the episode, the ol' hypnotism-gone-bad, I was       pretty pleased with how it went. Interesting developments between Homer and       all other family members (Maggie aside), though obviously the most with Bart,       and didn't get bogged        down in wackiness (though still sub-syndication length). I knew this was from       an old, old Judd Apatow script and I like him well enough but tried not to       think about that aspect too much. (I wonder, though, how much of the original       made it through.        Clearly some punch-ups like the 400-Year-Old Virgin booth at the circus, for       example, were not part of the 1990 version.)              DYN:       ...when Wiggum thinks he's a kangaroo, he briefly walks around with Maggie in       his pants?       ...Itchy & Scratchy Land is now really more of a Springfield thing?       ...Homer seems to know his predicament better once the hypnotist reappears but       before he's snapped out of it?       ...Stacy Keach does a voice that isn't Howard K. Duff?              Previous episode stuff       9F05: Apparently Mr. Burns now collects gold watches at retirement instead of       distributing them       CABF21, 2F09: Other notable hypnotisms of Homer       CABF14: Marge refers to the time Homer cut off his thumb (though she had a       hand in it)       2F18: Culottes (and frilly socks), now on Milhouse       2F01: A little visit to Itchy & Scratchy Land (funny, as we just had another       sorta-returning theme park in RABF15 last week)              Meta       Not a lot, even established personal childhood history of Homer, but...       -Bart's lucky red hat became part of 10-year-old Homer's attire       -El Barto and now "Homo"       -Lisa and Baker Street on sax       -Strangling Bart turns into hugging him              Je suis Charlie       At the end of act 3, for about a second, a nod to the Charlie Hebdo attack of       last week flashed on screen. Probably won't see that again... speaking of       which...              Repeat of SABF19 (Super Franchise Me)       The 7:30 second airing tonight, predictably, did not include the dedication to       Jan Hooks. As it had been squeezed between the credits and Gracie logo, the       difference is that each credit took a little more time while the audio       remained the same length.       I also noticed this time around: Cletus's commercial spells it "possom" (and       that hasn't changed between airings).              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
