From: mxg77@po.cwru.edu              Started me off with a bad taste in my mouth (slightly overdone opening, long       Jetsons parody, weird morning montage - talk about filler, and it was STILL       one of the shortest episodes ever!) and I wasn't relishing another       Moe-jazzes-up-the-bar plot, but        the focus on Moe and his employment at SNPP was pretty interesting. Marge's       subplot was fine. The general tone of the whole thing was a little annoying,       though there were bits that I enjoyed, like Moe's very subtle bit with the       rubber gloves. Happy        birthday that other Matt G!              DYN:       ...Marge's station wagon has a dashboard ignition now and an unusual shifter       order of PRNDO?              Previous episode stuff (see also below)       9F10: Considering the way The Flintstones and The Jetsons are often paired, it       was neat that we started an episode with each now (though why was the tune and       meter so far off?)       5F24: Jetsons "stop this crazy thing" essentially starting the episode       GABF22: Cheery Red Tomatoes are back       (9F14: Gives new meaning to the term "Lady Duff")       TABF04: Literally a previous episode reference, since it repeated at 7:30 just       before this episode, Moe refers to the very recent Elon Musk adventure at SNPP              Meta stuff       Marge's license plate is now, rather than the episode's own production code,       "EP7G08" (episode 7G08 was the first to air).       Homer's SNPP file says he's worked there "1989- ".              Special intro       Another complicated affair with a bazillion possible things to note. In       particular I am mentioning       -the fact that it seems to be based more on the season 2-19 opening than the       newer HD one (and uses, more or less, one of the Simpsons theme sax solos too,       though has neither old nor new price on Maggie)       -the grocery store is now the Kwik-E-Mart with Apu       -signs at Kwik-E-Mart for malk (2F19) and what appears to be a reference to       head bags and heady goodness (1F01)       -9F21 Be Sharps on Moe's       -4F12 Poochie and Roy       -1F16 Moleman as Bart       -other Krusty people on TVs, including Mr. Teeny and Corporal Punishment       -3F04 Lard Lad statue comes to life       Whip pan includes:       -snakes (9F18)       -Scorpio (3F23)       -Leon Kompowski (7F24), I think       -Troy McClure, Artie Ziff       -Mindy Simmons (1F07)       -Jacques (7G10)       -Lisa's lamb (3F03), I think       -the pig mascot (1F02)       -Lurleen (8F19)       Couch gag includes:       -Colonel Homer (8F19 also)       -Muumuu Homer and rag-on-a-stick Bart (3F05)       -fancy suit Marge (3F11)       -football Bart (5F03)       -hockey Bart and Lisa (2F05)       -Realtor Marge (5F06)       -fat future Lisa (4F24), I think       -astronaut Homer (1F13)       -cop Marge (2F21)       -Floreda Lisa (1F08)       -ballet Bart (2F14)       and near end:       -7G10 "Homer" ball       -7F18 Ringo painting       -4F18 Mr. Sparkle       all among many other things. Interesting that a number of the more obscure       references included in here (as well as the muumuu elsewhere) were in last       week's (TABF06) Springfield Anthem.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
