From: mxg77@po.cwru.edu              I'm not sure this all came together for me. The main plot was fine and fairly       interesting, and Marge's final (mental) plea at the casino was a little       touching (probably it wanted to be more). With Selman's name all over it it's       no surprise that Bart and        Lisa acted more like real kids, but it seemed out of place here (and a little       inconsistent with their characterizations elsewhere in the episode). It was       very interesting to see Homer completely competent, involved, and making       logical sense, yet again a        little out of place, especially since it was not a plot point for him (or the       kids) and they weren't even the focus. Act 1 was certainly over the top wacky       (how the episode title came from the throwaway setup especially since it never       came back to pay        anything off I can't imagine). Most of the things here should work on their       own but I just don't see the combination doing it. Still, not awful by any       means.              DYN:       ...Wiggum feels that Wiggins could not possibly be a real last name?       ...several obviously changed lines (to a long one from Bart about playing       video games in a diaper, and Marge's mention of Pac-Man/Men and Dig Dug)?       ...Marge doesn't seem to think Homer's going to want to see the revue even       after he expresses a lot of interest in how it's coming along?       ...Marge's disguise hair is a wig, even though it basically looks like her own       hair restyled?       ...Homer's snuggle calendar matches this month and last (March 2015 starts on       a Sunday, as does Feb), though it has 30 days so it can't be either?              Previous episode stuff       DABF02: As also noted by Don Del Grande, the vector of damage to the church       and the monetary trouble is very similar       3F23: Fun runs       4F07: Now that Ned is OK with gambling, he will buy (health) insurance       1F08+: Use of a casino to solve money problems, plus Marge's gambling problem       (all but mentioned outright when it causes Lisa great alarm)              Meta       "I will whisper even though we are alone" (whispering the plan to Marge)       "Even I saw that" (Marge, about the group all having the same thought bubble)              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
