From: mxg77@po.cwru.edu              Not too bad. I was concerned after the ridiculous first act with all the       birthday party nonsense, but I liked the unexpected way the Bart and Abe       stories came together (I wouldn't say I need Abe to be totally lucid,       coherent, and wise too often but it's        nice once in a while). I liked the (apparent) homage to bits of The Right       Stuff. And another Glenn Close cameo, which was fun, and probably not too       contradictory. (I guess this Carice van Houten as Milhouse's cousin thing is       just because of Game of        Thrones and the novelty of casting someone with that actual last name.) Maybe       didn't need two suicide attempt jokes within a few minutes, though...              DYN:       ...Homer on helium sounds a little like Arnie Pye or some other nasal Dan C.       characters?       ...the TMNT have their usual weapons (even nunchucks, which in the 80s cartoon       were phased out near the end)?       ...Rod is about 8, yet seems to have mostly kids Bart's age at his party?       ...several of the dystopian future movies Homer mentions (at least I am Legend       and District 9) are not nearly as recent as most of the long list?       ...Rainier Wolfcastle, parodying Arnold of course, looks quite aged in the       Expendables parody, even though the character himself probably won't be?              Previous episode stuff       2F12: Homer poses as Krusty, though he does a pretty bad job of it here       8F01, etc.: "Veterans of Popular Wars" gag seems to now be "Veterans of       Unpopular Wars"                     Meta       -Marge to Bart and Lisa when hearing their birthdays might be cancelled:       "You're gonna stay your current ages for the rest of your lives!"       -An electronically enhanced "ay caramba" from that stoma thingy       -Bart mentions e-cigs are legal for kids in "this state"              Fun fact       Basketry sure is (or was) a Boy Scout merit badge. If I recall correctly, it       had one of the lowest requirement counts, if not the lowest overall, at 2.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
