From: mxg77@po.cwru.edu              Here comes season 27. Episode was OK. Not sure it gave anything meaningful as       a troubles-in/strength-of-marriage installment, and most of what it did aim to       go for (which was nice) seemed unnecessarily complicated by the multiple       levels of it's-all-a-       dream (or-is-it?) and straying off topic. Plus, considering the publicity       machine back in the spring and summer teasing it as Homer and Marge getting       divorced for real (not only wasn't it real, it wasn't even as far as       divorce!), and the way the episode        title practically telegraphed it would be a dream... it wasn't easy to take it       seriously. I like Lena Dunham well enough and her character was inspired more       than some of the other celebrity castings with almost unrecognizable voices.              DYN:       ...Marge's voice seems really worn out now? (Or is it the sad version we get       for relationship troubles in general?)       ...when Homer marries himself in a thought bubble, he puts the ring on the       index finger (usually the show uses the middle finger)?       ...Marge's line about taking time "for your father and me" to work out their       problems seems to have been originally animated for the gramatticaly incorrect       "for your father and I" and then rerecorded?       ...Homer falls asleep on a purple octopus toy in the pharmacy, a lot like the       vacation photo shown much earlier?              Previous episode stuff       9F21, AABF16: Beatles album cover parodies       8F21: Spinal Tap referenced, though now Homer seems to be a fan       1F11: Homer showering at SNPP       3F24, 9F08: Coyote and clown bed the more hallucinatory in nature of callbacks       we see in Homer's trip              Meta       -Marge's license plate is EP7G08 (as in episode 7G08, first episode aired)       -Homer to Lenny and Carl: "You guys missed a very sad montage"              On dead people       Sam Simon is still listed as both show developer (which I expect to stay for       the show's entire run) and executive producer; I guess if he is de-listed as       EP it will be after this production season (TABF).       And I mentioned these when they happened, but over the summer a few       dedications were attached to repeats: Alex Rocco in Peeping Mom/TABF11 #3       (7/26), and Ricky Manginsay in Bull-E/TABF15 #3 (8/30). They didn't crop up       here, so I imagine those will be        their only appearances.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
