|    Notes for TABF22 (Halloween of Horror)    |

From: mxg77@po.cwru.edu              Well, it took 25 years but we finally have a Halloween episode that isn't a       Treehouse of Horror. How was it? Not too shabby, and with an oddly realistic       element of danger. I enjoyed both Bart and Lisa's challenges (the latter       particularly, also with        shades of GABF16 for example), and with Selman helmin' that's not a surprise.       Also rather liked the concept and (short-and-sweet) execution of the Time Warp       parody (NC-17 Halloween), as well as several of the costumes in it. But what       is that epilogue        with Maggie a reference to?              DYN:       ...there seems to be a new font for the ratings bug (though the Brooklyn Nine       Nine episode right after it is using the old one)?       ...Homer refers to non-Halloween as "puzzle Wednesday" even though Halloween       is a Saturday this year?              Previous episode stuff, sorta       GABF16: Lisa conquering her fears              Meta       -Of course, Flanders asks Homer if they're going up in the treehouse for three       stories; Homer says it's next week (and gives three fake plotlines for that),       and notes that people seem to like it.       -Apu has a fake scary name on his badge (like TOH episodes tend to have)       -Homer can't tell the Flanders kids apart, like many fans and some more       official sources (though he calls them Rod and Max here)       -Martin's got a Bender costume       -Lenny and Carl show up as (generic aliens suspiciously like) Kang and Kodos,       and Lenny's doing Kang's voice (Harry Shearer provides both)              Of all the obscure costumes to use       Chalmers as Zed from Zardoz has to take the cake. I'd seen it before, but this       year a fancy limited edition Blu-ray came out and it's been on my mind since I       rewatched it a month or so ago. I'd have recognized it instantly regardless;       that is a weird        movie that does not easily become forgotten.              --- SoupGate-Win32 v1.05        * Origin: you cannot sedate... all the things you hate (1:229/2)    |
