hello. i go by big lumby on the internet. i am a junior in high school,
currently entering my 2nd semester. i am also an amateur pixel artist
and chiptune musician, with 1 e.p to my name and a second one to be
released this spring. i am not a wealthy person, only earning change on
the off change i get it, as well as doing jobs for my local community
such as shoveling snow for the neighborhood. i don't own the newest
consoles on the market, nor do i own the best computer money can buy. i
don't do much either, save for the schoolwork that i am obligated to do
or the chiptunes i dabble with. however, there is one thing that you
must know for this article of sorts; i am a huge fan of more adult
animation; specifically, stuff like family guy, futurama, and the simpsons.

from the money i've scraped together and the old possessions i've traded
in, i've amassed a sizable amount of dvds, including a season 3 box set
of the simpsons. that is the extent of my exposure on full episodes of
the simpsons, excluding the excruciatingly long run it has had on fox,
fxx's annual 12-day long simpson marathons, and syndicated reruns of the
show via my24. none of the people i live (that being my mom, my dad, and
my brother) would ever buy anything simpsons related, due to them not
being interested in them. i wouldn't blame them, considering the duds
the simpsons have had over the years, but, i digress.

from these episodes, i've caught a glimpse of the extravagant and
astounding humor of the simpsons in it's prime. i will admit, a few of
the episodes i don't care much for (mainly 'when flanders failed' for
it's a-plot), but most of them i've thoroughly enjoyed ('homer at the
bat', 'lisa the greek', 'treehouse of horror ii', 'flaming moe's',
etc.). i can definitely see why people hold the golden age in such high
regard; the writing is, as legs would put it in my favorite episode of
   season 3, superb.

likewise, i can see why people have a distaste for seasons 13 and
beyond; those are the episodes my24 has been airing since its later days
as a upn affiliate, and the one's i've seen most often. the simpsons
have, in my opinion, become a decomposing corpse that barely qualifies
as a zombie, if it does at all. the writing doesn't resemble the cynical
humor of groening and the heart of simon that was fused so long ago.
now, it feels like i'm watching animated fuller house, a feeling akin to
   torture by the iron maiden.

personally, i can't help but feel as if it severely needs to be canceled
after a painful 30 seasons on the air, yet fox just won't because it's
the cornerstone one of the three things it's known for. i don't feel
like they owe me something for these near un-watchable episode. i feel
like they need to put ol' yeller down, for all of our sakes. sure, there
have been gems from the later seasons, but, in terms of good episodes in
a season, something like season three can effortlessly beat out multiple
seasons from the post-season 12 era.

i plan on talking here more often, but i thought i'd introduce myself to
the community. i'm planning on reviewing the new simpsons episodes once
they air, as well as reviewing the older ones from the dvd sets i have.
i'm glad this board is still alive and kicking; despite all of the new
technology around me, i like to take solace in the more ancient aspects
   of tech.

   thank you for reading
   lumby
